A modular grouping of lightboxes that are a meditation on the perception and relationship of light and color. Each box is one color of the basic palette that defines print (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) and light (red, green, blue) color theories. In addition to investigating light theory, the lightboxes also explore light qualities – particularly light’s positive effects. The boxes use full-spectrum light bulbs which means they can sustain plant and reptilian life, generate vitamin D in humans, and provide treatment for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). The longer a viewer spends with the piece, the more they are rejuvenated.
